Disability Support Worker

Job Description

Purpose of role : Provide disability support to Participants the organization supports via the NDIS.

Main duties and responsibilities :
Core objectives include:
  • Personal care including showering, toileting and grooming;
  • Meal preparation;
  • Assistance with medication management;
  • Social support;
  • Domestic assistance;
  • Financial assistance;
  • Provide assistance to Participants to ensure they achieve their NDIS goals.
The above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company.

Other duties : Fulfill other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

Person Specification
Qualifications : Preference that staff have or are studying qualifications related to the role.
Experience : Preference is that staff have experience or a lived experience in the sector, or transferable skills.

Other :
  • Staff must have either a Yellow Card or an NDIS worker Screening clearance prior to commencing work;
  • Staff must have a current First Aid/CPR certificate at all times;

  • Staff must have a drivers license AND access to a insured vehicle to transport Participants as and when required (staff will be reimbursed a Kilometre allowance as per their contractual agreements).

Job Description

Purpose of role : The position is responsible for providing a range of timely and accurate administrative support and rostering services that are designed to maintain the safety and independence of Participants VRSS supports in our SIL arrangements. The position is the key point of contact for Participants, families and Disability Support workers and is responsible for ensuring the rosters are maintained and updated for the best possible outcomes, reflecting the goal directed needs and funding allocation of the Participant. This is a fast paced, phone based role that is integral for rostering direct care workers to provide ongoing, consistent staffing to the Participants in our SIL arrangements.

Main duties and responsibilities : As a Roster Coordinator your role is to provide quality services to Participants and staff in the timely preparation of rosters including the administration of alterations, cancellations and leave arrangements Provide exemplary service in relation to all services as required including via phone and email. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with Participants, family, carers and other service providers as required.

Undertake other administrative tasks as directed by line manager such as oversight of invoices, staff mail outs, preparation of reports or documents as requested.

Participate in a regular, rostered on call program which runs generally from Monday at 5pm through to the following Monday at 9am.

Other duties : Fulfill other duties as required by management when requested / required.

Person Specification
Qualifications : Nil Specific.
Experience : Experience in administrative duties, financial management, customer service, rostering and sector.
Skills & competencies : A Roster Coordinator should be able to demonstrate the following skills :
  • Follow instructions given by managers;
  • Be able to comprehend roster systems and have ability to comprehend award requirements for same;
  • Be capable of developing a roster and issuing in a timely manner, in accordance with award and organisational requirements;
  • Actively participate in team discussions;
  • Be industry competent and able to provide assistance when on call to staff and Participants often in critical situations;
  • Work autonomously;
  • Be patient and understanding to participant and staffing needs;
  • Be calm and kind in interactions with participants and staff;
  • Display a high degree of computer literacy;

  • Use of Mobile devices and laptop;
